Uniflame Outdoor Log Rack 60 Inch
When the summer starts to cool down a little and football is on Friday nights, cooler nights are on the way. Most of us will have delivered or if we have a pickup truck go and get a load of wood for the winter. For where we live, it is multiple trips to get a couple of cords for the season. However, we heat our home with wood for the cold season and it does save us a load of cash. Using Uniflame log racks helps to keep our wood where we want it and available for easy use in our home.
Having a black log rack to help organize your wood is not a new concept. Wood log racks have been used for ever. The reasons are simple, easy access to the wood and off the ground for better air circulation. Also, this reduces crawly things and other unpleasant surprises when bringing some wood into the house.
The Uniflame log rack is a tubular steel frame construction. The outdoor firewood rack is easy to assemble. All of the parts have been precision cut and the bolt holes have been predrilled to accurate alignment. A couple of end wrenches or a crescent wrench and vice grips will do the job with no difficulty. A suggestion is to place some concrete pavers, which you can get cheaply at the big box store, under the feet of the rack if setting on the ground directly. If on a back patio or something similar the pavers are not necessary. Another consideration is to use a firewood rack cover. While it may not seem to be of high importance to use one, the benefits are worth the cost. Actually the cost factor is not a big concern. Keeping the rain and snow off the wood you are going to use next in the hearth is a plus. While I understand wood that has been rained on or covered in snow can still be used, starting such wood can be a little more of a challenging chore.
Having a rack for firewood is a help and to have it by the back door is worth it. As I mentioned earlier, we heat our home through the winter with wood. So we do go through a couple cords a winter, having a staging rack outside the door is much appreciated when the wind is blowing and the snow is flying. Remember to clean the flue and burn the fire hot. And maybe put on a pot of chili for those cold days and nights. Have a warm and safe winter.
